Orange You Going to Save the Date?

Looking to continue developing my crafting capabilities, I set out to create homemade save the date cards. I had an idea -- photo frames incorporating one of our engagement pictures, and including information about our hotel room blocks -- and, largely through trial and error, my design evolved.

Determination was definitely key for this project, as with each roadblock (I think I can, I think I can), I forged onward. Would it have been cheaper to order something online (like from here, here or here)? Probably. But I really didn't want to give up on this project. And, after seeing the final project, I'm so glad I didn't.

After adding a few more tools to my crafting collection, I was able to turn this...

...into these!

A photo frame with save the date information that I printed at home...

...and orange cardstock topped with vellum carrying hotel room block information. This was my first attempt at using eyelets, so while they don't look perfect, they do the job and hold all three pieces together.

I love how the postage stamp coordinates perfectly with the envelope. And, I had to include a nod to my newly-minted bee status as well!

Finally, I embossed the back swirly pattern for a little textural surprise.

Cute food-related engagement photo? Check! (This is just a teaser -- a full post about our shoot will be coming, I promise!) Yummy (and free!) Feel Script-esque font? Check! Incorporation of orange and purple (our main wedding colors)? Check! Key information about hotel accomodations? Check!

The crafting's complete (I know I can, I know I can!), and I can't wait for all our family and friends to get them in the mail!

Did you DIY your save the dates or incorporate an engagement picture into the design?
